What is Echo Fiction?
Echo Fiction is a niche media Internet entertainment network that creates, produces and distributes full-cast audio drama shows. Produced by Dreamseed LLC studios, Echo Fiction is considered a global online store, on-demand audio entertainment channel and audio drama creators' hub.
The medium, audio theatre, was once most popular during the Golden Age of Radio, but has now transcended the radio format and moved into the online digital realm. Broadband and the iPod have rebuilt a platform for this art-form to come alive once again, this time worldwide. Its main attraction is with independent talent, as current technology and the Internet has made acting in and producing audio dramas low-cost and very accessible. And naturally, with our on-the-go lifestyle, portable audio entertainment helps kill boredom nicely.
Production & Distribution
Some of the shows on Echo Fiction are produced and owned by Dreamseed LLC (as 'Echo Fiction Originals'), however there are also many shows produced independently. Echo Fiction only handles the distribution and marketing aspects of these shows, but doesn't produce the content.
History
Echo Fiction was founded by Executive Producer Xander Davis in July 2008 and launched in open beta on September 1 2008. It is currently still in open beta, its structure, model, and presentation under constant evolution.
What are Audio Dramas?
Audio dramas are a dramatic performance written and performed specifically for audio presentation. It is also known as "audio theater", "audio theatre".
This medium is not to be confused with books-on-tape. Audio dramas are not novels, but rather episodes of entertainment featuring a full cast of voice actors, music, and sound effects.
It had its greatest popularity on radio, before television was introduced, during the period known as the Golden Age of Radio, and as a result has often been called "Radio Theatre" or "radio drama." However, as a form, it is independent of its medium.
